So, Mitch McConnel says we have to cut entitlements, they are 70% of the budget. Many writers, "experts," agree that entitlements are too big a part of the budget.
What if we took in more taxes? Then entitlements might be less than 70%!
What if we improved the welfare system to make it weed out fraud, waste, and abuse?
Can we help the poor get work and self-respectability and regain their dignity?
"GOP’s Reverse Robin Hood"
RICHARD STEIER Dec 22, 2017
"Professional Staff Congress President Barbara Bowen said during a union rally Dec. 19 that the tax plan produced by Republican leaders in Congress in tandem with President Trump amounted to “a war on working people, sick people, young people, people of color, New York City, New York State…”
A strong case could be made on every count of her rhetorical indictment. But it might be even more apt to describe what happened as a coup, engineered by a political party that is both in thrall to and operates in fear of its wealthy backers."
OK, this writer says the GOP tax plan (which became reality when the tax cut was made law) is NOT reverse Robin Hood, transferring wealth to the rich? One clear fact, the transfer is NOT coming from the poor, but for damn sure no wealth is going TO the poor.
. . . for damn sure no wealth is going TO the poor.
Granted the money is not taken DIRECTLY from the poor. That would be impossible. The poor do not have money like the rich, so the GOP cannot take the money from the poor. The GOP can, and likely will try to take money (social welfare benefits) from the poor when they take it INDIRECTLY in cuts to any and all social programs / entitlements. The GOP continues to talk about cutting entitlements: social security, Medicare, and welfare any time they want.
GOP cut rich, corporate taxes, claiming this will result in a booming economy. But wll that economy include helping the poor? How will our form of "structured" capitalism, BIASED FOR THE RICH, help the poor?
DoD budget up BILLIONSA as DoD continues to lose and waste BILLIONS, yet GOP still has the ugliness to say entitlements are to blame since those payments are 70% of the budget. The Budget is based on income (taxes) as much as payments you idiots!? If the income is reduced of course we have to revisit payments. How about cutting DoD!?
Are you kidding me?!
Christians and Evangelicals, What would Jesus Do (WWJD)? What will Christians say? Will Evangelicals and Christians withhold their judgement of people's behaviors to help ALL the poor, or just the poor who follow THEIR rules (Biblical BS).
If Americans recognized the military budget is a welfare program for the Military Industrial Complex, would they give Department of Defense ~$700+ billion budgets. DoD loses and wastes BILLIONs every year and Americans are no safer, no more secure. Defense contractors soak up the welfare happily.
