Tweety Trump* offers no defense for abuse of power for personal benefit, obstruction of Congress by preventing the airing of documents form State and OMB as directed by Judges, so if there is no defense Tweety is NOT innocent

"Mitch McConnell Is 'In Literal Violation of the Oath' He Must Take for Impeachment Trial, Says Government Professor"

All members of Congress who do not properly adjudicate the Senate trial are violating the oath they took to become a Senator to uphold the Constitution.  It might have been, but no longer is viable to argue that the impeachment in the house is unconstitutional.  That train has left the station.

Of course, not doing the job they were voted to do is on both parties, all of Congress!  There should be a way to fire people who do not do their jobs.

"Congressional Republicans Violate Oath of Office"

"Like “Git ‘er done,” Americans should be yelling at Republicans in Congress: “Do yer job!” That’s because Republicans are shirking their sworn duty by threatening to both shut down the government and default on its bills.

Before taking office, each member of Congress swears a simple, straightforward oath. It leaves little room for misinterpretation. They vow to support and defend the Constitution of the United States and to “faithfully discharge the duties of the office.”

High among those duties is paying the government’s bills. Just the threat of dodging that responsibility has serious consequences."

DO YOUR JOB!  ACKNOWLEDGE WRONG DOING, THEN DEFEND IF YOU SEE FIT!

HE'S STILL GOING TO ABUSE HIS POWER, THOUGH, AND YOU NEED NO FURTHER PROOF THAN MORE SECRET PHONE CALLS BY LIMITS ON WHO LISTENS.  WHY DOES TRUMP FEEL THIS IS NECESSARY IF HE MAKES "PERFECT CALLS?"

"Analysis: Republicans forget Trump asked Ukrainian president to investigate Biden"

"President Donald Trump's senior aides have further restricted the number of administration officials allowed to listen to the President's phone calls with foreign leaders since his July 25 call with Ukraine's President was revealed and became the centerpiece of the impeachment inquiry, according to multiple White House sources in a new CNN report.

"Nobody is allowed on the calls," a White House official said, describing the new effort to limit those with access to the President's senior-most aides. "The barn door officially closed after the horse escaped."

What "horse" escaped?  The abuse of power horse?

That only leaves the alternative, GUILTY.

Tweety Trump's Presidency will require an asterisk, "*", when the McConnell planned trial in the Senate presents no evidence.

Do Republicans have any evidence to objectively show Tweety Trump is not GUILTY of abuse of power, failure to uphold his Oath of Office, and obstructing Congress by withholding evidentiary documents from the OMB and the State Department, as he "asked" Ukraine to help him with the 2020 election?  Why shouldn't Tweety Trump be removed from office?  Is he guilty?

If Tweety is NOT GUILTY, prove it!  One wonders if Justice Roberst will go along with this farce.

"Harvard Law Professor Warns Mitch McConnell’s Impeachment Strategy Could Backfire
Laurence Tribe called the Senate majority leader’s planned defense of Donald Trump “disgusting.”

"Harvard constitutional law professor Laurence Tribe explained Friday why he believes Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s (R-Ky.) plan to coordinate with President Donald Trump’s defense team in a Senate impeachment trial may backfire.
McConnell told Fox News’ Sean Hannity on Thursday that there was “no chance” that Trump would be removed from office over the Ukraine scandal and vowed “total coordination” with the White House during proceedings.

Tribe told MSNBC’s Ari Melber the next day on “The Beat” that it was “disgusting” that McConnell looked like he “is going to conduct this trial as though he’s a member of the defense team.”

“You know, it’s an ancient principle — centuries-old, actually over a millennium old — that you can’t be a judge on your own case, and effectively, to allow Donald Trump to call the shots violates that principle,” said the scholar, who has been advising top House Democrats on the impeachment process."

Tribe continued:

"The reason it may backfire is that an exoneration, if that’s what emerges by a Senate that is essentially rigged and fixed so that it’s coordinated in this way with the defense, really doesn’t clear the name of the accused so that the president will go down in history as having been essentially found guilty by the House in a proceeding where he had a chance to defend himself but didn’t take advantage of it, and then in a kind of rubber-stamp sort of toss-off, not really given a meaningful trial so that he will have been adjudicated fundamentally by the House of Representatives to have abused his office, abused his oath, and endangered the national security and then blockaded in the inquiry as though he were a dictator."

McConnell says the Senate will work closely with the White House lawyer?

"McConnell told Fox News’ Sean Hannity on Thursday that there was “no chance” that Trump would be removed from office over the Ukraine scandal and vowed “total coordination” with the White House during proceedings."

That is how we always go thru a legal process to acquit people indicted for serious crimes, right?

"How John Roberts might oversee a Senate impeachment trialBy Joan Biskupic, CNN legal analyst & Supreme Court biographer

What Justice Roberts does is going to be BIG!  Will he sleaze it, and let the GOP Senate have their way with this important Constitutional process?

"Washington(CNN) As the Democratic-led US House moves toward an impeachment vote on President Donald Trump, attention is turning to the likely Senate trial and how forcefully Chief Justice John Roberts might operate as he presides over the chamber.

Could Roberts influence what evidence emerges at trial and whether former national security adviser John Bolton and other White House officials must testify? Legal and political observers are already mulling how the 17th Chief Justice of the United States might steer whether the 45th President is removed from office.

Under the plain terms of the US Constitution and Senate rules, Roberts could wield a powerful gavel and rule on evidence and witnesses. Senate impeachment canon, dating to 1986, says the presiding officer "may rule on all questions of evidence." The chief justice's decision would stand unless overruled by a formal majority vote of the full Senate."

"'The Chief': John Roberts' journey from 'sober puss' to the pinnacle of American law"

"Trump appointees Neil Gorsuch, in 2017, and Brett Kavanaugh, in 2018, have put Roberts in charge of an even stronger five-justice conservative majority.  The law in America will come down to what Roberts says it is. The question is what this enigmatic figure who feels the weight of his position will do with his power.

Roberts, now 64, could remake the bench more in his conservative image, or he may opt to be more of an institutionalist, especially with Trump in office. He has already called out Trump for the President's comments attacking judges."

It is an exciting time for America.  Will courage prevail, and politicians abide by their Oath of Office to uphold the Constitution, or will pols seeking power and money win?  Will we see a permanent stain on our Constitution, political opportunism, and a blotch on our Democracy so America becomes more an Monarchist Autocracy, with Tweety Trump as our "King?"

We watch with bated breath.
