"Time for Europe to Join the Resistance"
U.S. President Donald Trump's decision to withdraw from the Iran nuclear deal marks the temporary suspension of the trans-Atlantic alliance. What now?
A DER SPIEGEL Editorial by Klaus Brinkbäumer 11 May 2018
Klaus makes very good points about how Tweety is truly and factually inept in his businesses and in making deals.
"Trump's renown is rooted in American hero myths. Trump says that women like Carla Bruni lust after him, something that women like Carla Bruni vehemently deny. Trump says he is exorbitantly rich, yet Trump ran himself into the ground with his casinos to the point that he was 295 million dollars in debt in 1990. He was bailed out by the banks and by his father. The greatest myth, though, has to do with Trump's alleged negotiating expertise. This too is nonsense. Trump was never proficient in the art of the deal. As a businessman, he paid far too much for substandard properties and has shown no patience as a politician. He isn't curious. His preparation is nonexistent. Strategy and tactics are both foreign to him. Trump is only proficient in destruction. And that's what he does."
Tweety is a proficient carnival snake oil huckster. A clown costume would be appropriate attire for this buffoon bully.
Failure: Trump dumped the Paris Accord, promising something better. He has offered NOTHING.
Failure: Trump offered better, cheaper health care for every American. Americans got nada.
Future (certain) Failures: We can expect the same for his violating the Iran deal - nothing.
Future (certain) Failures: If he ever engages North Korea we will get zero because no one, no intelligent country leader can trust Tweety to keep international promises. Tweety only keeps promises to hs base.
"Our relationship to the United States cannot currently be called a friendship and can hardly be referred to as a partnership. "
"Europe Stuck Between a Bomb and a Hard Place" [TRUMP violates agreement, NOT Iran. Tweety can not be trusted to keep any agreement.]
With U.S. President Donald Trump's decision to violate the Iran nuclear agreement, Europe finds itself facing an almost unsolvable diplomatic challenge: It must save the Iran deal while avoiding open confrontation with Washington.
Chrstiane Hoffman May 12, 2018
"Now, it is up to Europe. U.S. President Donald Trump has decided to withdraw from the nuclear deal with Iran in the most brusque possible manner. There is no waiting period, no attempts at mitigation. The marching orders are clear: the greatest confrontation possible."
How can Europe (France, Britain, Germany, not to forget China and Russia) save the Iran deal? I suggest Europe work 100% with China and Russia to do so.
"This conflict has the potential to escalate into a real confrontation between Europe and the United States. In a worst-case scenario, Trump could force Europe to make a choice between the U.S. and Iran. If you're not with us, you are against us."
"Trump Drives Wedge Between Germany and France" [And Britain . . . ; this title is a bit hasty concluding any real differences between France and Germany in my opinion.]
Donald Trump's move to withdraw from the nuclear agreement with Iran should have pulled the European Union together, but Angela Merkel has instead chosen to appease the U.S. president. Criticism of her stance is mounting in Brussels and Berlin.

Is Merkel really appeasing Tweety? That is hard to believe. Maybe she is merely suggesting patience given Tweety changes his mind more than a gold fish swimming thru the water.
"It isn't often that Peter Altmaier, who is about as pro-European as they come, casts doubts on proposals coming out of Brussels. But last week, he opposed a plan by the European Commission to pay damages to European companies affected by American sanctions against Iran. [This would be good to do, and send a message to Tweety AND Americans that they do not dictate to Europe! Europe is not under any obligation to follow the United States in their aggressions against any country, including Iran. How can the United States be trusted?] "We have no legal possibility to protect or make exceptions for German companies against decisions made by the American government," the German Economics minister said. He warned against discussing "premature proposals."
But nobody in Brussels cared to listen. By the time German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas met with his counterparts from Britain and France a few days later, Federica Mogherini, the European Union's top diplomat, had prepared a paper that paved the way for the very measures Altmaier had warned against."
Iran will not flinch, by the way. Iran can tur to China and Russia, and hope Europe stands by the agreement.
"Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, for his part, said he would not accept a "there's nothing we can do" attitude from the Europeans. "The EU, Russia and China together are no less powerful than the U.S.," says Ali Majedi, Iran's ambassador to Berlin. He says the Europeans demonstrated success in standing up together against Trump in the dispute over punitive tariffs. Now, he says, Tehran expects the same with the nuclear deal.
"If the EU, Russia and China use the instruments available to them to enable Iran to benefit economically from the deal, then we will also stick to the agreement," Majedi says. Then, he says, a discussion could take place about Iran's role in the region or its controversial ballistic missiles program, but it would all have to be done independently of the nuclear agreement.
"If there are expectations that Iran will renegotiate the deal and make further concessions, then that is unacceptable," he adds."
