It is an excellent Democratic move to go thru the holiday - it will be about 10 days to come back and pass an appropriation - into 2019 when they own the House to let Trump's shut down run its course.
THEN, pass an appropriation to back pay all Government employees in 2019. Trump will have to sign it or be the bad guy in this situation.
Trump was called out by Anne Coulter as cowardly for NOT closing govt. When he closes the govt he is a coward who cannot take responsibility!

"President Donald Trump is known for attacking, assailing, insulting and mocking his political enemies on his favorite social media platform. However, if his reaction to right-wing pundit Ann Coulter's recent criticisms of his job performance is any indication, it appears that the famously thin-skinned president does not like when the mirror is turned on him.
According to the @TrumpsAlert Twitter account, which tracks Trump family activity on the social media platform, the president either unfollowed or possibly blocked Coulter, who was an ardent Trump supporter in 2016. Trump's petty response came after Coulter on Wednesday called him "gutless" in a blog post, and told The Daily Caller that she will not vote for the president's reelection in 2020 if he cannot secure funding for his long-promised wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.
In her interview with the Daily Caller, Coulter criticized the president's apparent softening stance on securing the funds he claims are necessary to build the wall and declared Trump will have "no legacy whatsoever" if he doesn't get it built.
"They're about to have a country where no Republican will ever be elected president again," Coulter said. "Trump will just have been a joke presidency who scammed the American people, amused the populists for a while. But he'll have no legacy whatsoever.""
I have a news flash for Coulter. Trump is already the most forgettable, unproductive President in America's relatively short history!
More new, a Wall does not make you a good President! Good choices for your country make you a good President.

OK, what can a psychologist say about Trump, ethically? Not much. What if they set aside their ethical standard to speak out on an important issue, the mental health of Trump.
"Late last year, 27 prominent mental health professionals were so concerned about Trump’s odd and sometimes belligerent behavior that they contributed chapters to an unprecedented book called, "The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump." Their deep concern, they said, justified setting aside an important ethical standard of the mental health professions — the one that forbids mental health professionals from diagnosing public figures they’ve never actually evaluated."
What Trump has, in one psychologist's opinion is an "audience control problem." I have highlighted this pinion once already, maybe more than that.
"Is Trump really mentally deranged, maybe ready for the loony bin? If so, how could he have achieved so much over the course of his life? How could he have functioned so well in business, in media and now even in politics? How could he have raised such loyal and high-functioning offspring? How could he last even a day in the most stressful office in the most stressful building in the most stressful city in the world?
Trump's 'audience control' problem
Trump is not mentally ill, and I doubt that he is even “living in his own reality,” as so many have claimed. He is simply fairly unique in a way that is hard for the public to understand. In a nutshell, Trump is highly vulnerable to what can reasonably be called “sympathetic audience control.”
If that sounds jargony, I apologize. It’s actually a pretty simple concept and, in Trump’s case, it explains a lot — maybe even 90 percent of the behavior that seems so baffling.
All normal people are subject to “audience control” to one degree or another. That means simply that they regulate what they say and do based on who’s around them."
So when Trump goes to a rally, or meets with sympathetic groups, he reacts to the audience, gives them what they want / demand. In Trump, this audience control problem is scary!

Sympathetic audience control and a small time window produce most of the odd cognitive glitches we see in our president. Moment to moment, he either sees a foe and shoots, or he sees a friend and is influenced. In that kind of perceptual world, Trump inevitably — and without shame or even awareness — shifts his views frequently, sometimes multiple times a day."
