"Trump’s tweets on children dying in U.S. custody are a new low"
[So who is surprised that a sick, sad, lonely sociopath could use the death of children for his political aspirations? NOBODY! SOCIOPATH! MAD MAN!)
By Karen Tumulty December 29, 2018 at 4:39 PM
I want to puke at our President's low-life sociopath tweeting madness!
"
With President Trump, there is no bottom. Every time you think you have seen it, he manages to sink even lower.
It is not news that the president is indifferent to human suffering. His limp response to the devastation of the 2017 hurricane in Puerto Rico — which he claimed to have been a “fantastic job” on the part of his administration — stands out in that regard. But on Saturday, we saw yet another level of depravity when Trump made his first comments regarding the deaths in recent days of two migrant Guatemalan children after they were apprehended by federal authorities. It revealed not only callousness but also opportunism, as he sought to turn this tragedy into a partisan advantage in his current standoff with Democrats over the government shutdown.
His statements came, not unexpectedly, over Twitter. First this:
Any deaths of children or others at the Border are strictly the fault of the Democrats and their pathetic immigration policies that allow people to make the long trek thinking they can enter our country illegally. They can’t. If we had a Wall, they wouldn’t even try! The two.....
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 29, 2018
And then, minutes later, this:
...children in question were very sick before they were given over to Border Patrol. The father of the young girl said it was not their fault, he hadn’t given her water in days. Border Patrol needs the Wall and it will all end. They are working so hard & getting so little credit!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 29, 2018
Not a word of sympathy here — much less remorse on the part of the government over the deaths of a 7-year-old girl and 8-year-old boy while in its custody. Nor does Trump address questions that are being raised about whether the administration’s new policy seeking to limit the ability of immigrants to seek asylum protection might be a factor in putting more at risk. Under recent changes, migrants must remain in Mexico as their asylum cases are processed, possibly increasing their willingness to do something reckless to come across the border."
Let us all puke! Our President is a sick sociopath!
"Sanctuary Cities: What Trump Doesn't Tell You" [I'd say what Trump doesn't want you to know. Tom Homans doesn't want you to read this. Sadly, neither does the chief of Homeland Security or Justice Department because facts and truth defeat their Wall claim for "National Security."]
http://www.msnbc.com/specials/migrant-crisis/sanctuary-cities
"More than 11 million undocumented immigrants now live in the U.S."
This article covers the law angle - it tells us a judge rules against "ICE detainer" agreements where local jails arrest people without due cause and jail them without a warrant.
You cannot talk to me about the rule of law if you are not abiding by the law!
"After taking office, President Obama continued his Republican predecessor's approach to enforcing immigration laws, one that sent a “help us help you” message to local leaders. Small town police departments were asked to play their part by tipping off ICE whenever they came across undocumented immigrants. Federal authorities would then return the favor by formally requesting what they called a “detainer,” which allowed local authorities to jail suspects for up to 48 hours in order to allow ICE time to arrive and remove undocumented immigrants from the community.
But there were problems. Many small town departments were already uncomfortable with the prospect of jailing immigrants on minor traffic infractions. The issue became even more fraught when honoring an “ICE detainer” request meant jailing a person without a warrant.
The dominoes started to fall after a federal judge decided the practice was likely unconstitutional in 2014. The case originated in Portland, Oregon, and a federal magistrate judge ruled that an undocumented immigrant’s rights had been violated after she was held in county jail for 19 hours past her original release date. The ruling left Clackamas County liable for damages, putting small town departments on the hook for lawsuits if immigrants decided to take legal action for being unlawfully detained."
Obama enforced immigration laws aggressively.
"As local immigration advocates lobbied for sanctuary provisions, the Obama administration proved to be the most aggressive enforcer of immigration laws in U.S. history, easily surpassing 2 million deportations by the end of the president’s first term."
Then Trump, he weaponized the stupidity of criticism against Sanctuary Cities.
"What's more, the nominee, who touts himself as the "law and order candidate," overlooks the fact that many police departments have advocated for sanctuary laws. But after Kate Steinle was shot dead along the San Francisco pier, the phrase “sanctuary cities” was co-opted and weaponized. Sanctuary cities were made to embody the injustices that fall upon Americans out of a perceived laissez-faire approach to immigration enforcement. It’s a view, judging from Trump’s candidacy, that has resonated."
The current immigration law and commensurate policies are the fault of EVERYONE IN CONGRESS, NOT ONE PARTY! I will repeat, Congress must do its job - BOTH DEMS AND REPUBS - AND we need to spend $5,000,000,000 on FACILITIES to enable humane processing of immigrants!
Are these 11,000,000 undocumented immigrants murders? Of course not! Is America declaring war on 11,000,000 people?
This is an awesome article covering Sanctuary Cities.
EXCUSE FOR FAILING TO PASS IMPROVED IMMIGRATION LAW . . .
EXCUSE FOR FAILING TO BUILD APPROPRIATE INTAKE AND PROCESSING FACILITIES . . .
Illegal Immigrants!
Congress, Trump, stop scapegoating your failures.
"BORDER SECURITY!" will not be better with a Wall, that is simple common sense! Murders will not be prevented by a Wall.
The Wall is a solution looking for a problem!
Crime is erroneously attributed to illegal immigration, the process I guess, rather than failed legislation.
It's just stupid to say illegals come to the USA to commit crimes.
The story of a murder of a female out for a jog by an illegal immigrant is used by Trump, and Trump uses other "one-of" crimes, to lie about illegal immigrants.
"Trump used her slain daughter to rail against illegal immigration. She chose a different path."
By Terrence McCoy December 28, 2018 at 7:00 AM
"BROOKLYN, Iowa — The letters began immediately. Dozens at first, then hundreds, each day bringing more: from a Texas man telling her this was why we needed to build the wall. From a New York television producer asking for an interview. From an elderly woman despairing “this divided America in which we now live.” Nearly every day since her daughter’s body was found, she had opened the mailbox, then sat and read them, because that was her routine, that was how she tried to make sense of something so senseless. But now the mailbox was empty for the first time, and she had a new routine.
Laura Calderwood, whose daughter, Mollie Tibbetts, 20, was allegedly murdered by an undocumented immigrant and left to rot in a cornfield this past summer, closed the mailbox, walked up the steps to her house and turned on the stove. It was getting on toward 6, and she needed to get dinner going. The boys would be hungry.
There were two inside the house now. One was her son, Mollie’s younger brother, a high school senior named Scott. And the other was his friend, a courteous teenager named Ulises Felix. He was the child of Mexican immigrants. For years, his parents had lived and worked beside the man accused of killing her daughter at the same dairy farm on the other side of town, which they fled after his arrest, leaving behind not only Brooklyn, but also Ulises, their 17-year-old son. He’d wanted to finish high school in the only town he’d ever known, and soon, remarkably, he had a new home — the home of Mollie Tibbetts — where Laura had promised to look after him in his parents’ absence.
She flipped on the television.
The news that day was what the news was every day in a country where the central political clash no longer revolved around a choice between candidates, or a question of big government vs. small, but rather an elemental battle over who gets to be an American. Should any immigrant — regardless of race, religion, nationality or circumstance — have that chance? Or should it be reserved for the few who might more quickly assimilate into the American majority?"
So the woman whose daughter was murdered is not against immigrants like Trump is. So what is Trump's motivation?
"The stories almost always begin the same way. A son or daughter is dead, and an undocumented immigrant is blamed. Aggrieved and adrift, the parents search for meaning in it all, some finding what they can in obsession and hatred. “In my life we’re going to find the trash who killed my kid,” said Scott Root of Council Bluffs, Iowa, whose daughter, Sarah Root, 21, was killed in 2016, allegedly by an undocumented drunk driver who was released after partially paying bail, then disappeared. Others find meaning in political transformation. “I became a Republican,” said Sabine Durden of Mineral Springs, Ark., whose son was killed by an undocumented immigrant in a traffic collision. And still others in activism: “My story needed to get out,” said Laura Wilkerson of Pearland, Tex., whose son, Josh Wilkerson, 18, was beaten to death in 2010 by an undocumented immigrant.
So there is a choice, to hold the single individual responsible and accountable for their bad deeds, which is the ordinary and logical thing to do, or blame and attack an entire group of people who can be easily identified as "illegals?"
Frankly, it is lazy logic, and racist, using simple terms, to blame a group, i.e., illegal immigrants. How do we make this leap? We do not blame all whites when w white mane kills someone, or all homeless when a homeless person kills someone, we even do not blame all black people when a black person kills someone, even while we fear black people!
It is just lazy and easy to blame the group Trump tells us to blame, and Tweety Dumb helps us all hate illegals with LIES, misstated facts, and misused facts. Of course Tom Homans, former Director of ICE abuses facts as well, as I documented in an earlier blog, so Tweety Dumb is just not smart enough to get his story right.
Truth be known, Tweety Dumb prefers to lies and lie and lie!
Laura, Mollie's mom does not live by fear or hate or racism. Sadly, many people wanted to attack the farm where immigrants worked after the murder. People who knew nothing of Laura, Mollie, or the immigrants, we now ready to kill innocent people, making them as bad as the murdered who killed Mollie.
The immigrants felt so threatened they left the farm, going back to Mexico because, yes, they were illegals. They were innocent of any crime except being illegal immigrants. A boy left behind is not living with Laura, and she doe snot blame him for the murder of her daughter.
This mob hate is sick, but VERY NORMAL for Americans who appear happy killing and lynching people of color. American mobs have happily, gleefully murdered Chinese, Japanese, and blacks. The hate and fear promoted by Trump and his Republican allies is all the incentive Americans need to go on a killing spree. It is an American sickness that makes my stomach turn. Yes, other counties have this sickness too, but I always hoped America was not sick this way.
It is SICK!
". . . a robo-call went out from a white supremacist group using a Brooklyn number. “We don’t have to kill them all,” it said. “But we do have to deport them all.”
Ulises [The son of an immigrant family working at the farm receiving death threats . . . ] begged his family to stay. Everything would calm down. The hate was coming from out-there America, not Brooklyn. Then someone said something racist to his mother at a gas station, and a Latina high school student reported hearing bigoted comments by classmates, and his mother said they had to move. It wasn’t safe here anymore. They began packing, telling Ulises they understood if he chose to stay.
“I got home to a basically empty house except for my room. My parents are moving up to Illinois,” Ulises messaged to Scott one night soon after. “ . . . I don’t know what’s gonna happen.”
“Live here,” Scott [Mollie's brother who also does not fear immigrants just because they are immigrants.] quickly wrote back. “We got an extra room.”"
Scott, the brother of the murdered girl, Mollie, was mature and aware enough to know not all immigrants, not legal or illegal immigrants, are murderers because one (1) is. It is extremely easy for a LOT of Americans to hate people, it seems. SCARY!
The story of Laura's approach to the aftermath and hate of immigrants gets really ironic . . .
" . . . Ulises [Remember - Ulises / his family fled their work at the local farm because that farm was getting death threats toward ALL the immigrants that worked there due to the murder.] came to live with them. The boy, who was nothing but respectful and sweet, always asking permission to go anywhere, told her he was related to the woman. The mother of Bahena Rivera’s child was his cousin.
Another revelation:
“He was a pretty funny dude . . . always messing around,” Ulises casually said of Bahena Rivera one night, and Laura just listened, looking down as she cooked.
And another:
“My mom took care of him for a while, and she fed him every day,” he said one evening. “He was so busy sending money back to his parents, trying to help them build a house.”
“Oh, wow, I didn’t know that,” Laura said quietly. “Did he come here by himself, Uli?”
“The only family I know that he had here was his uncle and aunt.”"
Wow! The immigrant who committed the murder acted, seemed normal, and who would expect him to commit such a murder?
It is VERY simple. Murder by one is no reason to hate everyone that looks like the murderer.
