Was the "nuclear option" really necessary? Of course the police will charge her for assault so they can justify throwing this girl on her CHIN! An inch in the wrong direction BREAKS HER NECK.
This nuclear option is NOT JUSTIFIED. This cop was in NO DANGER, OBVIOUSLY. Is caution, use of the body slam, really called for? Was this man trained to be afraid?
Fear makes us do bad things like this. I think this cop was also being his version of a "man."
Retrain the cops to new procedures to protect and serve, not dominate and batter.
Is this guy a sadist? Is his heart black? Is he soul-less? I acknowledge in advance the conservative a-holes who will say she resisted and got what she deserved. You people are sick! This much force was NOT necessary.
She did not get what she deserved! That is a rapist mentality.
I know, the cops had to watch the boyfriend, he was bigger. I think the cops were after the boyfriend tho. I can see if she assaulted the cop or had a weapon, but she did not assault the cop, and had no weapon.
This was truly an ego thing for the cop, truly. It is clear he overdid it no matter what the circumstance. He was embarrassed that she resisted him. His ego made him do it! How can he justify this vicious assault?

Police identified the woman as 22-year-old Michaella Surat. She was arrested on suspicion of third-degree assault and obstructing a peace officer and released on bond."
Nice job officer. Now lets go have a beer. We took down a major crime boss here for sure, right on her tiny face.

Did this tiny girl have a gun, hammer, knife, or what? Why was this cop so afraid?

According to the Fort Collins Police Department, the Surat's boyfriend had been involved in a disturbance with another man at bar on Thursday night.
Police said Surat "shoulder-checked a bouncer and an officer" and tried to pull her boyfriend out of the area.
"The officers told her that her boyfriend was not free to leave but that she could go," said Sgt. Matt Johnson, with the Fort Collins Police department.
Johnson said Surat physically obstructed and struck an officer.
Johnson said officers used a "standard arrest control" technique to subdue her."
Standard, huh?
Wow!
The police Chief defended this violent take down of a skinny little girl.
"I have a duty to preserve and protect the processes that our society has put in place to ensure that the questions surrounding this incident are answered in a fair and impartial manner. I have no control over the video that is already in the public domain, but I do have control over the release of the video evidence from our body worn cameras. This is an open investigation and to release evidence, absent a truly compelling reason, would not be proper. I am committed to preserving a process that ensures a fair and impartial outcome. I am equally committed to preserving the rights of both Ms. Surat and the involved officers."
Preserve and protect what? The cop's ego? Sad!
