Credit "koopatrain" on Redit explaining what "Member" Berries" are about:

"South Park's member-berries are a metaphoric device which satirize the recent trend in pop culture to use nostalgia as a plot device and sales point. They effectively rip into the recent reboots of Star Wars, Star Trek, Ghost Busters as well as homages to 80s movies such as super 8, or Stranger Things. At the same time, the appeal to a golden age of America is satirized. The berries mention of a time before ISIS [ISIL], and when we felt safe mocks the appeal to an America that needs to be made great again."

Some people think 2016 America is a hot mess economically (national debt, lost manufacturing capability, unemployment [EVEN THO UNEMPLOYMENT IN THE USA HAS GONE DOWN FOR 8 YEARS]) in 2016, others see a doomed future of multiple environmental disasters in 5-10-15 years out (earth quakes, solar flares, severe weather), others see conspiracies at every turn (Sandy Hook was faked [if you get our information only from on line sources]), JFK was shot by the Government or there were two shooters, 9-11 was a Government job, fluoride in the water was a Communist plot; maybe some conspiracies are intended to give us cavities?  Not to mention we cannot prove a negative, i.e., Prove to me there was no second shooter of JFK.  Prove to me the Government did not execute the 9-11 attack!  Prove to me that no one was killed in the Sandy Hook massacre.), disease, WW III, and maybe some see technology going against humans via Artificial Intelligence; some see lack of morals, religious ideals / beliefs fading or being tarnished by sinful changes ("dominionist," various religions, American Al Qaeda, White Supremacists, KKK, Zionists) or can recover our economic stature of the 1950s.  I loved the 50s.

But we cannot live in the past!  There is a lot of bad stuff in the world.  Most of us choose not to live alone in the mountains on our reservations waiting for a time to repopulate and reconstitute our country, the world.

This is not a criticism of anyone's life choice.  I am not criticizing anyone's life choices or fears.  We each make our own choices to live and choose how to confront our fears.  Most of us, however, will live our lives to whatever end comes, choosing to be part of the world rather than run and hide away from it.  WE cannot give in to paranoia

We must believe most of the world's people, and most governments are good, not out to hurt us.  WE can disagree on laws, policies, philosophies, and life choices without getting angry.

Most of us will stay out in the open, vulnerable, true, but we will do all we can via civil, caring action in a peaceful manner to fix what is bad in the world.

The 1950s was a VERY unique time that can never be reproduced.  We won the war and had no industrial competition!  Britain, France, Germany, Russia, China, Japan, all Western Countries, depended on the USA for every need.  None!  We virtually owned the world back then.  1950 cannot exist in 2016 because all the countries that were destroyed by the war have recovered, even some with the conscious help of the USA.  That is who we are.  We did not choose to take over the world, even when we could have.

The "cat is out of the bag," so to speak, in that advanced military weapons of every sort are spread throughout the world by the United States, Russia, and many other countries.

Our culture has changed too.  Study the picture above and think through all the difference we live in today, 2016.

The world has changed, and like it or not, it is globalized and we cannot reverse globalization.  We can not act like as ostrich and stick our head in the sand.  We cannot close our eyes and say everything is back the way it was in the 1950s, even the 1960s.

Weather and disease and electromagnetic disasters are going to happen, and we will recover each time.  We know what to do without going into the mountains and barricading ourselves in our homes.  We could do better as a general population, of course, preparing for the worst.  We pay taxes and rely on the United States government, and, for the most part, the US Government helps people get through.

We cannot recreate other times to live in.  We live in today plus one, in fact.  You can only modify, adapt, and act on each minute in each environment you live in.
