A murdered Russian lawyer, a US law putting sanctions on specific Russian Oligarchs, and a very wealthy American businessman are at the heart of the Russian conspiracy against America and our Democracy.
There are reasons to work with Russia. Perhaps we can agree with Russia on trade, or to ensure world peace and non-proliferation of nuclear weapons, or to work to save the planet from climate change, or find ways to control and ultimately manage terrorists over the long run.
BUT one essential thing American's must be aware of is Russia is governed as an autocracy. Russia is not a Democracy. Americans do NOT want to be governed as Russia is governed. No way!
If Tweety goes to far to "normalize" America's relationship with Russia, our Democracy can evolve and change to an autocracy, a single ruler with less if any freedoms to act as a free and independent people.
And Donald Jr, appears to believe that he will get richer, and richer (more rich) as he defends what can happen when he colludes with the Russians, proving he does not give a f**k about the American Democracy. The only thing Tweety Jr. cares about is more money in his bank accounts.
"Donald Trump Jr.’s defense is that there’s nothing wrong with colluding with the Russians."
"So to recap: At first, Jonny Jr. claimed that he never set up a meeting with Russians to talk about sabatoging Hillary Clinton’s campaign. Then, when the Times found out he did set up the meeting, he claimed it was just about adoption. Then, when the Times found out that it was in fact about the campaign, he claimed that it was about adoption AND the campaign (but mostly about adoption). Then after a night of backlash, Don Don dismissively tweeted, “What, as if you wouldn’t have met with her to talk about the campaign??”"
Tweety is doing things to undermine our Democracy that look a LOT like Putin's work: "fake news" to undermine what is truth in America's media and news press, conspiracy theories/claims with NO EVIDENCE EVER PROVIDED, voter fraud "investigation," normalizing lying in public on the biggest stage of all, disrespecting the poor and uneducated, as well as ethnic and religious minorities, and demeaning our justice system. There will be little left of American values if Tweety succeeds at his endeavor.
If Americans do not like Socialism, they ANSOLUTELY will not like a Tweety autocracy.
Virtually forgotten until D.T. Jr. brought it back to life, the Magnitsky Act is Russia's and Putin's worst nightmare.
"Bill Browder’s ‘Red Notice’"
By PETER LATTMAN, MARCH 18, 2015
https://www.nytimes.com/2015/03/22/books/review/bill-browders-red-notice.html
"The first third of “Red Notice” recounts the engrossing tale of Browder’s rise to the top of the financial world. Descriptions of his early jobs working for the disgraced financier Robert Maxwell and the highflying bank Salomon Brothers are among the book’s most entertaining sections. Browder is a keen observer of Wall Street culture with a gift for making complex financial investments understandable. You find yourself cheering along as he earns a fortune investing in post-Soviet Eastern Europe, even as he beats his chest after each winning bet. “In a short time, our $25 million portfolio was transformed into $125 million,” he writes. “We had made $100 million!”
Browder soon begins to bump up against rapacious oligarchs and crooked management. But rather than exit the country, like many disillusioned American investors, Browder wages a campaign to clean up Russian capitalism and expose its underbelly. In 2005, the Kremlin bars him from Russia, his assets are misappropriated and one of his lawyers, Sergei Magnitsky, is imprisoned and dies after being beaten by eight riot guards."
Why didn't I know of this sooner? The book was published years ago. This material, if truly true, and who knows nowadays what is true, is amazing!
"“Red Notice” isn’t the first time Browder has told his tale. He was featured on “60 Minutes” last year, and this newspaper and numerous others have profiled him. Browder acknowledges using the media to help both his investments and his quest for justice, but he also appears to relish the attention, even while it comes at great personal risk. Though he has dedicated his life’s work and this compelling book to his deceased lawyer, make no mistake: Bill Browder is the hero of his own story."
"Magnitsky Act explained: Trump Jr. says law was at center of meeting with Russian lawyer" [OMG, ANOTHER Trump Jr. confession. He was invited by a Russian rep to ease sanctions on Russia from the Magnitsky Act. You cannot make this up! What is Fox News spinning on this story? Fox News will not address what is going on and why Russia is so against this law.]

"When Donald Trump Jr. met with a Russian lawyer as his father campaigned for the presidency, he thought she had information about the elder Donald Trump’s political opponent. Instead, she just wanted to talk about the Magnitsky Act, Trump Jr. said.
The president's oldest son has denied that the lawyer, Natalia Veselnitskaya, divulged any information about Clinton during their 2016 meeting. She did, however, want to discuss the Russian adoption ban and the Magnitsky Act – enacted by the Obama administration in 2012."
Putin wants the Magnitsky Act removed, and Putin will pay Tweety a steep reward if he can do this favor for him. This law keeps Putin from doing a lot of manipulating of foreign government that he wants to do thru money laundering.
"So what does the Magnitsky Act do?
Officially called the “Russia and Moldova Jackson-Vanik Repeal and Sergei Magnitsky Rule of Law Accountability Act of 2012,” the law enacts sanctions on certain Russian officials as a punishment for human rights violations.
Adopted in 2012, the Magnitsky Act permitted the U.S. to freeze financial assets of Russian officials who contributed to the abuse, arrest and death of Magnitsky. It was later expanded in 2016 to include human rights abusers anywhere."
The Russian lawyer that wanted to meet with Trump Jr. because she was hired to fight it.
"Veselnitskaya opposes the Magnitsky sanctions. She has represented Denis Katsyv, the son of a top executive in state-owned Russian Railways. He was charged in the U.S. with money laundering after investigators suspected his company bought ritzy New York real estate using proceeds from the $230 million tax fraud scheme that Magnitsky exposed."
"What Really Irritates Vladimir Putin? The Magnitsky Act"

Quid pro quo right Donald? [Both Donalds . . . ] Now we know why Jr. loved it! He could trade the Presidency for help on this Act and the sanctions it created against Putin's Oligarch friends, "state workers."
"Russia has lobbied hard for repeal of the act. That's what Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya said she was doing when she met with Donald Trump Jr. in June 2016 at Trump Tower in New York."
