We are a divided country. Is that a good thing?
Trump stokes fears in every citizen, relishes Culture War and hate, so that the Culture war divides America more very day. We have people on both sides of the divide who do not want to listen to facts any more!
The TRUE national security threat is NOT Russia, China, ISIS, nukes, climate change, or even disease! The TRUE threat to America's national security is TRUMP and a divided America.
America communicates its feelings and fears through the stock market.
President Trump stokes fear every day, creates uncertainty domestically and internationally, is impulsive and inconsistent, unpredictable, unstable, chaotic, divisive, promotes Culture War . . . so the stock market PLUNGES!
. . . and for the most part, with some exceptions, Fox News continues to support his behaviors and decisions as though it's all good.
"Wall St. Ignored Signs of Trouble for Months. Now It Sees Risks Everywhere."

President Trump can sign good legislation like the crime bill, ban bump-stocks, but when he acts out like a toddler in shutting the government, the country suffers more than he can figure.
All the good in the world will be "trumped" by negative vibes from the White House. Look at the stock market for a key indicator of how people FEEL about the Trump Administration and our country.
Uncertainty and inconsistency will destroy Trump's legacy. The culture war is eating our souls. Hate, anger, and divisiveness are bruising our hearts and minds.
NATIONAL SECURITY is in danger due to the Culture War! Trump is feeding the Culture War!
"Amid government shutdown, a host of bigger worries"
By Michael Kranish , Joe Heim, Steve Hendrix December 22, 2018 at 6:38 PM
"Bernardine and Russell Yamamoto arrived in Washington from their home in Hawaii — their first-ever trip to the nation’s capital — to find the federal government shutting down. But as the couple waited to tour the U.S. Capitol on Saturday, the shutdown was the least of their worries.
“Washington just seems to be in chaos,” said Russell Yamamoto, 62. Bernardine, 60, agreed.
“What is going on? What is happening? A lot of people resigning from office,” she said. “It doesn’t give you a sense of comfort.”"
Americans feel bad. Americans are divided. This is not good.
"In just the past week, President Trump upended foreign policy by announcing the abrupt withdrawal of U.S. troops from Syria. Defense Secretary Jim Mattis resigned in protest, alarming many members of the president’s own party. The Federal Reserve confirmed fears that the U.S. economy is slowing. And the Dow Jones industrial average plunged nearly 7 percent.
These chaotic events have rattled world markets and sparked concern that the next crisis could tip the nation into recession — with no certainty that the Trump administration and feuding lawmakers are up to the task of correcting course."
The United States feels like it is a Country in a dark, ugly, nether world, a "7 percent solution," our minds in a fevered muddled state, a cocaine-sodden state of mind. Welcome to our Culture War aided by the President of the United States so he can get elected in 2020!
"“The shutdown is a symptom of the fact that our government is simply not functioning to make policy in an orderly, sensible way,” said Alice Rivlin, who was director of the White House Office of Management and Budget under Bill Clinton when the government shut down in December 1995. “It adds to the uncertainty. The greatest effect is the concern over what happens next.”"
My wife tells me she feels sickened, and I think we all feel sick with her.
"Diane Swonk, chief economist of accounting and advisory firm Grant Thornton, called the shutdown “another straw on the camel’s back — and the straws are piling up.” She said she was already worried about a recession hitting in late 2019 or early 2020, “and something like this could make it happen sooner.”"
What does the Culture War foretell for America? What does an inconsistent, impulsive President foretell for America?
"“We’re now immersed in a fearful time, a moment where we speak of walls and tariffs rather than the free flow of ideas and people and goods. But here’s the good — or at least goodish — news: History tells us that hope tends to win in the long run. There’s the Klan, but then there’s Dr. [Martin Luther] King. There’s Joe McCarthy, but then there’s [President Eisenhower]."
This seems naïve to me. The light at the end of the tunnel is more likely a train than the sunlight to me.
The uncertainty and disdain coming from Trump is infacting the World, our Allies.
