The history of America, as I have read it, is all about culture war, anger, hate, and scapegoating.  We are a cruel and racist country, in general, with a few people who try ot be nice.  In fact, perhaps all human are living a life of strife, challenged to control our inner base self raging toward the world?!

Predicting the future, saying trend lines show fewer people in poverty and more peace than ever may not foretell our future as we would hope.  Pandemic disease is still possible.  Bad things can happen, and will happen, and most of it will be caused by people.  We will eternally inflict harm on others and ourselves.

"America’s Never-Ending Culture War"

The issues that drove protesters to Chicago in 1968 are still motivating our partisan divide, 50 years later.

Politics is/are only PART of our divide, as we are essentially full of rage to start, in my opinion.
