Hypocrisy of "Christians' who hate, disrespect, lie, and / or say gays are sinners is a real thing, a sad, ugly thing.  When Christians judge others, THEY ae the sinners.  It is very sad, ugly, sick, and a sin it's own right to be so hypocritical.  The "judgy" sort of "Christian" is not a true believer in what Jesus preached in my opinion because Jesus also said treat (love) others as you would have them treat (love) you.  Complex interpretations are not useful when the simple text works fine - love thy neighbor!

Matthew 7:1-5

"1 “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. 3 “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye."

Homosexual love s nonetheless love; it is not typical, but it is normal at times for some people of the same sex to truly love each other.  In my opinion, love trumps "sin."  But my sense of all this is that people should be free to do what they do if it hurts no one.

John 8
[1] Jesus went unto the mount of Olives.
[2] And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them.
[3] And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst,
[4] They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.
[5] Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?
[6] This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.
[7] So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.
[8] And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.
[9] And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.
[10] When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?
[11] She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more."

"What does the Bible say about homosexuality?"
By Sam Allberry

"It is a surprise to many people to discover that there are only a handful of passages in the Bible that directly mention homosexuality. Yet despite its infrequent mention, where the subject does come up, the Bible has some very important things to say about it. We need to understand them if we’re to avoid the twin mistakes of homophobia and thinking God is indifferent about how we use our sexuality.

The first two passages that directly mention homosexuality come from the Old Testament, the other three are from the New Testament."

It seems to me we can dig thru the Bible to find lots of contradictory advice, rules, instructions, guidance, etc.  The Bible was written by men, some with an ax to grind in my opinion.  There are some very ugly things reported in the Bible, including mass murder by God as he flooded the Earth and murdered all mankind.

The idea that God has a plan and is all powerful, but allows genocide, killing of babies, and much, much worse, proves to me that men wrote the Bible to control the poor, weak, and dumb.  The Bible is absurd to me.

Using the Bible to judge people is wrong.  Using the Bible to hate or hurt is wrong.  In my opinion, using the Bible for anything is probably useless, but I recognize some people get solace from reading the Bible and following the "Word of God."

As long as "Christians" do not use the Bible to hurt and harm people, that is OK with me.  Otherwise, the Bible s not a book I believe in.  A bunch of verses written by regular people, all men I think, not saints, is not a book to weaponize.
