If you ever hear anyone say you cannot question the military, suggesting the military is above reproach, stop them! They are committing a serious error thinking the military are all good and honest people just because they fight wars for us.
Respect the sacrifice of your military, by all means. BUT do not become blind to human frailty we all experience. Military people are like civilians and commit the same bad acts as the rest of us, in general.
Military people come from the general population and return to that population. Their sacrifice is greater than civilians, their contribution may be greater, at times, but their crimes can be worse as well, to wit the Mei Lai slaughter in Viet Nam.
"Sarah Huckabee Sanders warns reporter not to question a 4-star general amid mounting John Kelly controversy"
Joe Perticone Oct. 20, 2017
"White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders sidestepped questions about the validity of chief of staff John Kelly's claim that Rep. Frederica Wilson of Florida had bragged about securing funds for an FBI field office in 2015."[Kelly] said there was a lot of grandstanding," Sanders said during Friday's White House press briefing. "He was stunned she had taken that opportunity to make it about herself."
When pressed as to whether Kelly could elaborate further, Sanders said he "addressed that pretty thoroughly yesterday."
But the reporter noted that the money was secured before Wilson was in Congress, which prompted Sanders to invoke Kelly's military career.
"If you want to go after General Kelly that's up to you but I think that if you want to get into a debate with a four-star Marine general, I think that's something highly inappropriate," Sanders said."
What did you say Sarah?! No! Sarah, YOU CANNOT SAY THAT IN THIS COUNTRY! Your answer is not true here in America!
I do not know what country Sarah H. Sanders originates from, but this kind of talk is certainly not based on our American democracy. We MUST question our military to ensure civilian control of the military, and no adventurous military endeavors.
Flynn, Kelly, McMaster . . . all of these otherwise "honorable" generals are now part of an Administration of VERY doubtful integrity.
Sorry, Sarah, you are wrong AND UNAMERICAN AND STUPID to say Americans, the media, or any of us cannot question a retired Marine four star general's bad behavior and lies.
In a DEMOCRACY we MUST challenge bad behavior of military people at every opportunity!
"Military-Worship Is Bad for the Military"

"Unthinking deference to the troops and the Pentagon gives the bad apples in the ranks cover to do their worst."
"Here is my concern. Our growing civil/military divide often means that too many Americans by default view members of the military with a degree of deference, sometimes even awe, that these service members haven’t always earned. They view members of the military as inherently more honorable and more courageous than civilians. And, believe me, our more corrupt service members know how they’re viewed and exploit that goodwill relentlessly."
Military people are simply Americans in uniform. They can do bad things!
"I fear that too many citizens, politicians, and pundits have resorted to military-worship as a form of patriotism on the cheap. They didn’t serve themselves, but by golly no one can love the troops more than they do. No one’s going to salute the flag with more enthusiasm, cheer the vet-of-the-week at a football game with more vigor, or outbid them in lavishing love and resources on men and women in uniform.
It’s far more patriotic, of course, to hold every branch of government and every government employee accountable to the law, the Constitution, and their responsibilities than it is to revere any branch or person. Respect — and especially reverence — is earned, not given freely. There are absolutely members of the military who are not respectable people. They do not do respectable things, and thus they do not deserve our respect."
